This page should tell you all you need to know about what courses should be suitable for you this season. We are also open to putting on extra courses if there is demand.

Adult beginner courses for age 16+

Level 1 - Introducing you to sailing with all you need to know to get afloat under supervision

Suitable for - Complete beginners
Duration - 2 Days
Age - 16+
Course Content - How to sail in all directions, including an awareness of launching and recovering
Ability after the course - Able to sail in light winds under supervision

Level 2 - Setting out the foundations of sailing for you

Suitable for - Sailors with sailing skills to the standard of Level 1
Duration - 2 Days
Age - 16+
Course Content - Rigging, launching, sailing in all directions. Capsize recovery and essential safety knowledge
Ability after the course - Able to sail and make decisions in good conditions

Level 3 - Consolidating skills and trying new ones

Suitable for - Sailors with sailing skills to the standard of Level 2
Duration - 2 Days
Age - 16+
Course Content - Coaching of level 1 and 2 skills and taster sessions from the advanced modules
Ability after the course - More confident in sailing skills and techniques, and ready to progress onto the advanced modules

Seamanship Skills - How to handle a boat in all circumstances and solve problems afloat
Suitable For – Adults and juniors with Sailing skills to the standard of the Level 2 / Stage 4 courses
Duration – 2 Days
Age – 8+
Course Content - Launching and recovering the boat in different circumstances, stopping, reducing sail, recovering a man overboard, anchoring
Ability After the Course - Able to handle a wide range of situations afloat

Sailing with Spinnakers - Everything you need to know about sailing with conventional or asymmetric spinnakers

Suitable For – Adults and juniors with Sailing skills to the standard of the Level 2 / Stage 4 courses
Duration – 2 Days
Age – 8+
Course Content - How to rig the boat, gybe and recover one type of spinnaker, either conventional or asymmetric. How to sail the best possible course downwind
Ability After the Course - Able to use one type of spinnaker, conventional or asymmetric

Intro to Cat Sailing (will run if there is demand) - A conversion course for those who are competent (level 2 standard) Dinghy Sailors

Suitable for - Anyone who can sail a boat Upwind and Downwind with a degree of control who would like to have a go at sailing a Catamaran
Duration - 2 Days
Age - 16+
Course Content - Rigging, Basic manoeuvres, upwind / downwind sailing, trapezing, using a spinnaker
Ability after the course - Able to helm and Crew a catamaran in light to moderate conditions
